Remember, O creator Lord,
That in the Virgin’s sacred womb
Thou wast conceived, and of her flesh
Didst our mortality assume.

Thou wast conceived, and of her flesh
Didst our mortality assume.

Psalms
Ant. (for Advent) Prophétæ prædicavérunt.
Ant. The Prophets have foretold.
Psalm 53
Deus, in nómine tuo salvum me fac: * et in virtúte tua júdica me.
Save me, O God, by thy name, * and judge me in thy strength.
Deus, exáudi oratiónem meam: * áuribus pércipe verba oris mei.
O God, hear my prayer: * give ear to the words of my mouth.
We beseech Thee, O Lord, that the heavenly intercession of the ever-glorious and blessed Virgin Mary may protect us, and conduct us to eternal life, through Christ our Lord.
For behold God is my helper: * and the Lord is the protector of my soul.
Avérte mala inimícis meis: * et in veritáte tua dispérde illos.
Turn back the evils upon my enemies; * and cut them off in thy truth.
I will freely sacrifice to thee, * and will give praise, O God, to thy name: because it is good:
Quóniam ex omni tribulatióne eripuísti me: * et super inimícos meos despéxit óculus meus.
For thou hast delivered me out of all trouble: * and my eye hath looked down upon my enemies.
V. Glória Patri, et Fílio, * et Spirítui Sancto.
V. Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, * and to the Holy Ghost.
R. Sicut erat in princípio, et nunc, et semper, * et in sæcula sæculórum. Amen.
R. As it was in the beginning, is now, * and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.
Psalm 116
Laudáte Dóminum, omnes gentes: * laudáte eum, omnes pópuli:
Praise the Lord, all ye nations: * praise him, all ye people.
Quóniam confirmáta est super nos misericórdia ejus: * et véritas Dómini manet in ætérnum.
For his mercy is confirmed upon us: * and the truth of the Lord remaineth for ever.
Amen.
Psalm 117
Confitémini Dómino quóniam bonus: * quóniam in sæculum misericórdia ejus.
Give praise to the Lord, for he is good: * for his mercy endureth for ever.
Dicat nunc Israël quóniam bonus: * quóniam in sæculum misericórdia ejus.
Let Israel now say, that he is good: * that his mercy endureth for ever.
Dicat nunc domus Aaron: * quóniam in sæculum misericórdia ejus.
Let the house of Aaron now say, * that his mercy endureth for ever.
Dicant nunc qui timent Dóminum: * quóniam in sæculum misericórdia ejus.
Let them that fear the Lord now say, * that his mercy endureth for ever.
De tribulatióne invocávi Dóminum: * et exaudívit me in latitúdine Dóminus.
In my trouble I called upon the Lord: * and the Lord heard me, and enlarged me.
Dóminus mihi adiútor: * non timébo quid fáciat mihi homo.
The Lord is my helper: * I will not fear what man can do unto me.
Dóminus mihi adiútor: * et ego despíciam inimícos meos.
The Lord is my helper: * and I will look over my enemies.
It is good to confide in the Lord, * rather than to have confidence in man.
It is good to trust in the Lord, * rather than to trust in princes.
Omnes gentes circuiérunt me: * et in nómine Dómini quia ultus sum in eos.
All nations compassed me about; * and in the name of the Lord I have been revenged on them.
Circumdántes circumdedérunt me: * et in nómine Dómini quia ultus sum in eos.
Surrounding me they compassed me about: * and in the name of the Lord I have been revenged on them.
Circumdedérunt me sicut apes, et exarsérunt sicut ignis in spinis: * et in nómine Dómini quia ultus sum in eos.
They surrounded me like bees, and they burned like fire among thorns: * and in the name of the Lord I was revenged on them.
Impúlsus evérsus sum ut cáderem: * et Dóminus suscépit me.
Being pushed I was overturned that I might fall: * but the Lord supported me.
The Lord is my strength and my praise: * and he is become my salvation.
Vox exsultatiónis, et salútis * in tabernáculis justórum.
The voice of rejoicing and of salvation * is in the tabernacles of the just.
Déxtera Dómini fecit virtútem: déxtera Dómini exaltávit me, * déxtera Dómini fecit virtútem.
The right hand of the Lord hath wrought strength: the right hand of the Lord hath exalted me: * the right hand of the Lord hath wrought strength.
I shall not die, but live: * and shall declare the works of the Lord.
Castígans castigávit me Dóminus: * et morti non trádidit me.
The Lord chastising hath chastised me: * but he hath not delivered me over to death.
Aperíte mihi portas justítiæ, ingréssus in eas confitébor Dómino: * hæc porta Dómini, justi intrábunt in eam.
Open ye to me the gates of justice: I will go in to them, and give praise to the Lord. * This is the gate of the Lord, the just shall enter into it.
Confitébor tibi quóniam exaudísti me: * et factus es mihi in salútem.
I will give glory to thee because thou hast heard me: * and art become my salvation.
Lápidem, quem reprobavérunt ædificántes: * hic factus est in caput ánguli.
The stone which the builders rejected; * the same is become the head of the corner.
This is the Lord’s doing: * and it is wonderful in our eyes.
This is the day which the Lord hath made: * let us be glad and rejoice therein.
O Dómine, salvum me fac, o Dómine, bene prosperáre: * benedíctus qui venit in nómine Dómini.
O Lord, save me: O Lord, give good success: * Blessed be he that cometh in the name of the Lord.
We have blessed you out of the house of the Lord: * The Lord is God, and he hath shone upon us.
Constitúite diem solémnem in condénsis, * usque ad cornu altáris.
Appoint a solemn day, with shady boughs, * even to the horn of the altar.
Deus meus es tu, et confitébor tibi: * Deus meus es tu, et exaltábo te.
Thou art my God, and I will praise thee: * thou art my God, and I will exalt thee.
Confitébor tibi quóniam exaudísti me * et factus es mihi in salútem.
I will praise thee, because thou hast heard me, * and art become my salvation.
Confitémini Dómino quóniam bonus: * quóniam in sæculum misericórdia ejus.
O praise ye the Lord, for he is good: * for his mercy endureth for ever.
Amen.

Prayers After the Office
To those who, after the Divine Office, shall on their knees recite with devotion the following prayer, Pope Leo X granted indulgence in respect of those shortcomings and faults which they may have committed through human frailty while saying Office.
TO the most holy and undivided Trinity, to the manhood of our crucified Lord Jesus Christ, to the fruitful virginity of the most blessed and glorious Mary, ever a Virgin, to the entire assembly of the saints, be ascribed everlasting praise, honor, power, and glory, by every creature; and to us be granted the remission of all our sins, world without end.
R. Amen.
R. Amen
V. Beáta víscera Maríæ Vírginis, quæ portavérunt ætérni Patris Fílium.
V. Blessed is the Virgin Mary’s womb, which bore the Son of the Everlasting Father.
R. Et beáta úbera quæ lactavérunt Christum Dóminum.
R. And blessed are the paps that gave suck to Christ our Lord.
Then is said secretly an ‘Our Father’ and a ‘Hail Mary’.
